Hi, I’m Tawna—a lifelong educator, reading teacher, and passionate advocate for kids who deserve to feel confident and capable as readers. I’ve worked in education for over 21 years in just about every role you can imagine, from clerical support to classroom teacher, and for the last 10 years I’ve specialized in helping students build strong, foundational reading skills.
I’m a certified EC–6 Generalist, Special Education EC–12 teacher, and ESL educator. I’m also certified in Reading By Design for Dyslexia Instruction, a Certified Dyslexia Coach, and currently working toward my Science of Teaching Reading certification so I can continue to bring the very best support to my students and families.
Beyond the classroom, I’ve been a contributing writer for Macaroni Kids by Certifi-kid, and a published author. Most importantly, I’m a wife, mom, and proud Montgomery County local, where my family and I love being part of this community. Helping children grow as readers truly lights me up, and I’m so grateful to walk alongside families on their learning journey.
